When an artist is starting out, it is tempting to make a large audience number the whole plan. A number can describe an ambition. It does not tell you what to do next.
The first task is to find a workable connection between the music, the way it is presented and the people likely to respond.
Create a clear introduction
Choose a song and a way of presenting it that give a new listener a useful sense of the artist. Make the profile, listening links and follow-up content consistent with that introduction.
Start with a manageable set of ideas. Give each enough attention to understand whether it is helping people connect with the music.
Build on a response
When something shows promise, investigate it. What drew people in? Did they seek out the song? Are they returning for more?
Those questions help decide where to put the next round of time and budget. They are more useful than assuming every new post or release needs an entirely new approach.
Make progress carry forward
Give listeners a way to stay connected between releases. Keep the artist’s identity recognisable while allowing the work to develop.
Growth is rarely a neat sequence. A useful campaign leaves behind an audience relationship, clearer judgement and a stronger starting point for the next piece of music.
