Orchid Collective | 7.7 million National Radio Listeners, Made in Chelsea & Spotify Officials

Having constantly toured since forming, the Irish indie pop quartet Orchid Collective had created a loyal fanbase, packing out gigs and festival tents. We were set the mission of growing this fan base and using them to secure streams and press across the UK for their single, whilst also focussing on their overall growth. After less than a year, we’d helped Orchid Collective secure multiple national radio plays, coverage on high profile sites and 4 Spotify Official playlists.

Campaign 1

Although having a portfolio of plays across radio and online coverage, Orchid Collective were yet to grow their streams to substantial figures and progress from their previous releases. With their first campaign working on their single ‘Otherside’, we secured national radio coverage, 2 Spotify Official playlists and national TV coverage on ‘Made In Chelsea’.

Online Press

premiere with online magazine Clash was secured within the first few weeks, giving us the springboard to secure an interview with Flavour Mag and review on The National Student. Being Irish, it was key we gained regional press so JOE.ie made the track Song of the DayThe Last Mixed Tape reviewed the single and Nialler9 ran multiple gig/festival announcements. The key target of the campaign, Red Bull Ireland, was gained near the latter end of the campaign, with an interview running on the band.

The radio friendly track picked up plays across the UK, especially within Ireland. Plays were confirmed on Flirt FMDublin City FM8Radio and URadio within the early weeks. Once the portfolio of plays were secured, we targeted the larger areas. RTE 2FM played the track out on two separate shows, plus ran an online feature. With a weekly reach of almost 2 million for RTE Radio, the RTE 2FM play led to plays on other large stations such as Today FM, which has a listenership of over 400,000 per day and Red FM, which has 2.9 million listeners a week.

On release day, Orchid Collective were placed on Spotify Official playlist ‘Alternative Generation’. The playlist secured them their first few thousand plays, generating Discover Weekly and Top Recommendation placements, triggering further streams. Soon after, the track was added to larger following Spotify Official playlists such as Feelgood Indie and Irish playlist A Breath of Fresh Éire.

Made in ChelseaAs Orchid Collective didn’t have a music video for the single, we were pitching the track to music supervisors for plays on TV. Made In Chelsea will be featuring the track in their next series, with it being added to ‘Made In Chelsea’ Spotify playlist.

Campaign 2

With our second campaign for Orchid Collective, we wanted to build on previous successes, looking to secure bigger and better results that would springboard them to the next step. For this campaign with track ‘Forces’, we secured multiple national radio plays, 2 Spotify Official playlists, an Instagram takeover with a 249k follower account and features across high readership blogs.

Online Press

For the day before release, we secured a premiere with Gigslutz, one of the largest blogs to break new artists. From there, we looked at securing regional online coverage with sites such as Nialler9, The Last Mixed Tape, The Irish News and BIMM Dublin. We again secured a feature on Red Bull IE but also reached Orchid Collective’s target of confirming coverage with Hot Press, who ran a ‘Track Of The Day’ feature as well as a live shoot.

Again, we aimed to build from their previous campaign so stations that covered their previous single including RTE 2FM, BBC Across The Line, Flirt FM and KCLR were confirmed in the early stages. We then focused on larger national radio, succeeding with plays on RTE Radio 1, Kiss FM Portugal and also RTE 2XM, who also interviewed the band before their London gig for a feature on The London Ear show.

With their regional fanbase growing substantially within the past year, we aimed to step up from the regional blogs and focus on further ventures that would not only increase the band’s listeners but their social media presence. Lovin’ Dublin featured Orchid Collective in their IGTV series, with over 249k followers, increasing Orchid Collective’s followers and engagement.

On the day of the release, ‘Forces’ was added to Spotify Official New Music Friday UK. Soon after, the track was added to Irish Spotify Official playlist Breath Of Fresh Éire.
